Free or Reduced-Price Meals

Dear Parents,

It is important to us that your children eat healthy, well-balanced meals every day.  So, please fill out a new application for free and reduced-price meals for every school year. You only need to complete one application per household, even if you have children at different schools in the district. Please fill out an application and return it to Nutrition Services. We offer secure, online prepayment service!  With this service, you can view the last 30 days of your child’s eating history, check their account balance, and deposit money into their account at any time.  Having money on your child’s account before they enter the cafeteria makes the lunch line move much faster, so your child has more time to eat and be with friends.

To use the online system:

  • Go to www.myschoolbucks.com
  • Create an account and password for yourself as a parent.
  • Add your child(ren) to your account using their student ID numbers. Your child may know their number, or you can get it from Nutrition Services at 891-3021.
  • You can then look up the last 30 days of your child’s eating history, check their account balance, or make a payment.
  • Payments can be made with a major credit or debit card, or using your checking account.

You should know:

  • Online payments take 24-48 hours to register in the cafeteria.
  • The online payment service charges a $1.95 transaction fee to cover bank costs. Chico Unified School District does not profit from this fee. You can include payments for all your children under the same transaction if you do them at the same time.

If online prepayments are not convenient for your family, you can continue making payments by check. Write your child’s full name on the check. Make it payable to Chico Unified School District, and mail to Nutrition Services, 2455 Carmichael Dr, Chico, CA 95928, or take it to the school cafeteria.
