If your child tests positive for COVID-19:
  • Notify your child’s school by contacting the attendance office or health office.
  • Your child should isolate at home for 5-days after their positive COVID-19 test. They are eligible to return to school if they get a negative test result on days 6-10. Otherwise, your child may return to school on day 11, provided they are fever-free and symptoms are resolving. Please talk to your school health office or attendance clerk before returning.

If your child is exposed to COVID-19:
  • Your child may remain in school unless they develop symptoms or test positive for COVID-19.  Exposure to someone with COVID-19 does not necessarily mean that your child will become infected.

  • California Department of Public Health (CDPH) recommends wearing a mask in indoor settings for 10 days after exposure to help prevent spreading COVID-19.

  • CDPH recommends that your child get tested for COVID-19 3-5 days following their last exposure unless they had COVID-19 within the past 90 days.  You may get tested at one of these Butte County locations or by clicking here to find a testing site near you. Over-the-counter (at-home) tests may also be used. You may request a COVID-19 iHome Test from your school site. If your child starts to feel sick or shows symptoms, they should get tested immediately, even if they had COVID-19 recently.

  • If your child develops symptoms of COVID-19 or tests positive for COVID-19, they should isolate at home and notify their school health office or attendance clerk.  We can take additional steps to keep our school community safe when you notify us.

  • While not required for school attendance, CDPH recommends COVID-19 vaccinations to protect against severe disease.  You can click here to Make an appointment to get vaccinated or contact your child’s healthcare provider.
