E-Rate Y18 RFP for Network Equipment - PDF

RFI Network Equipment:

Question: How are each of these 4 campuses connected to the rest of the district?  Is an L3 router required at each campus demark or is that already provided and installed?

Answer:   Our campuses are connected to the district via Comcast dark fiber provided and managed by our county office of education.Currently we have L3 switches provided by our county office of education. The new switches will be used as both L3 and L2 switches once installed.

Question:  At each IDF, will L3 dynamic routing (OSPF) be required, or just static L3 routes?

Answer:  Yes. We will be using OSPF with the new switches at the MDF only.

Question: Is Brocade your current preferred standard?  Are you open to other vendors?

Brocade is the current District standard.  We are open to receiving alternate quotes.

CUSD E-rate Information for Year 17 (2014-15)

Priority 1, Internet Service Provider (ISP) & Telecommunication

***Bidding Opens January 21, 2014***

E-Rate Y17 - Internet Service Provider (ISP)

Addendum 1 (RFP 2014-131) February 6, 2014
1. On page 8, item 2 d under specifications, does the 24 hour support have to be phone support or in-person support?  Is it possible to get lead time on support needed or is the request to be able to contact support at any time of day?
The support requested is a contact person for resolving issues affecting service. This may include a contact that can respond to an outage or issue outside of regular business hours (including nights and weekends).

2.On page 8, item 2 h under specifications, what are the specific ISP services that Chico USD would like granted control of?
This may include Internet services such as web or web related services, email services, upgrades or replacement of equipment with customer-premises equipment or customer-provided equipment (CPE) for services or networking. CPE equipment would be maintained and managed by Chico USD and may be part of ISP’s services or may be customer provided outside of any ISP.

3.On page 9, item 3 f under Additional Information Required, can you define what is meant by “Bid Security” and how that should be submitted?
The bid security is intended to deter bidders from withdrawing their bids.  It gives the customer some assurance that the selected bidder will sign the contract or otherwise forfeit their bid security.
A bid security guarantee is usually acceptable in one of the following formats: (i) unconditional bank guarantee, (ii) irrevocable letter of credit, (iii) certified check, (iv) bond or (v) School Transfer (if available). The bid security must be surrendered to the client if the bidder: (i) withdraws their bid before the end of the bid validity period, (ii) fails to sign the contract after the notification of award, or (iii) fails to provide a performance security, if required.

4.On page 9, item 4 c under Pricing, can quarterly or yearly recurring cost be submitted instead of monthly?
Annual pricing is acceptable.

5.Can you confirm how Inspire Charter currently connects to the Internet?
Inspire currently connects through Chico High School. Since this is a shared connection, the desired design is to give Inspire dedicated bandwidth to the Internet and not shared with Chico High School.

Addendum 2 (RFP 2014-131) February , 2014

6.We are requesting that Chico USD would extend the due Date for RFP # 14-121 and RFP # 14-131 to Feb 28, 2014
We cannot extend the deadline because we have to take the contracts to the board for approval before we can post to SLD. We only have a board meeting March 5th and 26th. If we wait until the board meeting on the night of March 26th (the deadline to post) we risk missing the deadline if there is any issues with the board approval. So we need to take this to the board meeting on March 5th. The deadline for the agenda and contracts for the board packets is February 26th.  Again, we need time for review and selection process and to prepare the board packet with summaries and sign contracts etc..
