The Board of Education of the Chico Unified School District declares that there is a civic center at every school site within the District.  Therefore, school site buildings and grounds are available to citizens and community groups for meetings and public activities.  However, the community use of District facilities shall not interfere with the use and occupancy of the facilities for the purpose of education.


IMPORTANT POINTS TO REMEMBER

Application packets can be obtained from the school site where the activity is desired to be held.

The completed application must be submitted to the site a minimum of fourteen (14) days prior to the proposed activity.

Approval/denial/scheduling is the responsibility of the site administrator or designee.

The use of alcohol, tobacco and/or illegal drugs is prohibited on school property.

No activity will be permitted which is in violation of local, state or federal statutes; i.e. lotteries, bingo, raffles.                                

Applications are valid for a maximum of one fiscal year (July 1 through June 30).                

No private parties (i.e., birthdays, weddings, etc.) will be permitted.

Cancellations must be received by the Maintenance/Operations staff at least twenty-four (24) hours prior to the scheduled activity to avoid incurring applicable facility and custodial charges.

INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS

Organizations requesting use of District facilities are required to provide a certificate of insurance naming the District as an additional insured. Approval of use of the facility/facilities is contingent upon receiving proof of insurance as indicated below.

This insurance must provide minimum limits of $1,000,000 Combined Single Limit for bodily injury and property damage.  It is the responsibility of the organization to supply the District with a certificate of insurance at least ten (10) days in advance of using the facility. The certificate of insurance MUST NAME CHICO UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT AS AN ADDITIONAL INSURED.

Please have your insurance agent forward the certificate of insurance to Chico Unified School District, Maintenance and Operations, 1163 East Seventh Street, Chico, CA 95928.

Top of PageAPPLICATION FOR USE OF FACILITIES
The Use of Facilities Application is available on the Forms page. It is an interactive form that can be completed on line, printed out and submitted to the site you wish to use. An application number will be assigned, and you will receive a confirming copy via U.S. Mail.  All approvals are contingent upon the receipt of a Certificate of Liability Insurance for your organization that also names Chico Unified School District as an Additional Insured.

Please note that your application is not approved until you have received a confirmation copy that has been signed by both the Site Administrator and Facilities Coordinator.
