| | Our junior high students study integrated language arts courses in which they: - read and respond to literature--both fiction and nonfiction
- experience all stages of the writing process
· brainstorming · rough draft · revising · editing · final draft - prepare and make oral presentations
- learn and practice research skills
- develop basic grammar/writing/spelling skills
- work on developing vocabulary
All classes meet the California English-Language Content Standards for California Public Schools for Grades 6-8. | |

Sixth grade students learn word analysis and vocabulary development, reading comprehension, literary response and analysis, writing strategies and conventions – grammar, punctuation, capitalization, and spelling, as well as listening and speaking strategies.

Seventh grade students study reading, writing and speaking strategies and conventions. The literature correlates to the 7th grade world history curriculum. The textbook is McDougal Littel's The Language of Literature. Core literature may include: - Dragonwings

- A Proud Taste For Scarlet and Miniver

Eight grade students expand their reading, writing and presentation strategies and conventions. The literature for this class correlates to the 8th grade U.S. History curriculum. Our textbook is McDougal Littel's The Language of Literature. Core literature may include: - The Outsiders
