Math 7

Course Description

Math 7 is a pre-algebra course, preparing students for Algebra in eighth grade.  It is a very important course in the preparation for higher mathematics.  The adopted curriculum covers all material outlined in the California Mathematics Framework and reviews basic computational skills.  The class has traditionally been taught with an emphasis on problem solving which will be of benefit to the student throughout his/her education.  Topics covered include: integers, equations, fractions, graphing, probability, statistics, area, volume, perimeter, and exponents.  Most students will go on to Math 8/Algebra A the following year.  However, to progress into Algebra 1 as an eighth grader, your son or daughter must demonstrate a mathematical knowledge of each unit's subject matter, pass the district proficiency test and have the teacher’s recommendation.
