If your child does not have the above math knowledge, he/she will need tutoring and will have to work extra hard to do the required work for the math program. Tutoring is available in my classroom at no charge, of course, anytime I'm in my classroom.
|
| | **** Homework Requirement Your child can expect between 30 and 45 minutes of math homework each night – including weekends- in addition to any tutoring make-up requirements. If your child is consistently spending longer than this, we need to communicate. Homework that is not done neatly will be rejected, as will crumpled-up papers, papers ripped out of a three ring binder, or any other messy and/or unreadable homework. Late homework is not accepted unless a student is absent. The three lowest homework grades will be dropped at the end of each quarter. **** Recommended Materials for Students Two wireless notebooks or spiral notebooks (binder paper in two separate sections for math is acceptable for organized students); graph paper; metric-English ruler; scientific calculator; compass; protractor, pencils –wood or mechanical; set of colored pencils; pencil sharpener with container for shavings; 30-60-90 degree plastic triangle; 45-45-90 degree plastic triangle; “pink pearl” type erasers; punched hole reinforcements; and a three hole punched zipper bag to hold all the loose items If your child does not have access to these materials, please contact me. **** Parental Help Most junior high students still need help with organization, time management of long-term assignments and neatness. Parents can help by checking assignments and signing each completed assignment. All parents are encouraged to attend back-to-school night at Bidwell.
Classroom Rules
1) Do your best
2) Respect the school, the classroom, the teacher, and each other
Respect is the keyword in my classroom. I handle almost all discipline problems with time-outs or talking to the student. If a problem persists, I will make parent contact. On rare and/or serious occasions a student will be sent to counseling or the vice-principal.
