| | Chico Junior High School Mission Statement Our school-wide mission is to provide our students with academic success via a 7-8 sequence of teaching, learning, assessment and support through quality educational programs that address diverse student needs and promote learning throughout life. | |
|
| | Chico Junior High School was constructed in 1953 and currently has an enrollment of approximately 700 students in grades 7 and 8. There are 2 administrators and 39 teachers with a student to teacher ratio of 165:1. The district spends an average of $3,490 per student. Chico Junior has an active PTSA, School Site Council, and parent volunteer participation. We have a strong leadership that believes in doing things that are good for kids and a general atmosphere of "we can" is prevalent.
Our curriculum is diverse, with literature and writing emphasized. We have been designated as one of the California Demonstration Schools in math. We are also one of the leaders in California in developing the Industrial Technology program recommended for middle schools. We boast our own student-run T.V. station and are a leader in technology in Northern California, with 3 full classroom labs, multiple mini labs throughout our campus and 4 rolling laptop labs. Our campus is networked with a fiber optic backbone and all computers have Internet connectivity.
