| | Hello and welcome to the Chico Junior High School Music Department. Fifty years of Excellence in Music Education are the hallmark of this department. I have been teaching at CJHS for 20 years. I am currently teaching three band classes, two choral classes, a piano class (open to anyone) and an after-school jazz band for anyone currently enrolled in the music department. Trips, festivals, honor bands, select choirs, solo/ensemble festivals and community events are where we shine. I take anyone into my classes who is willing to work hard and make music. Reading music, theory, ear training, history, performance etiquette, and state and national standards are addressed in all classes. Email or call me if you have any questions. | | Concert Band: year long, open to anyone who has played their instrument a year or more. Concert band is the advanced instrumental ensemble at CJHS.
Beginning Band: year long, open to anyone with a desire to learn an instrument and read music.
Cougar Chorus: semester long, open to anyone who wants to learn to sing and read music.
Concert Choir: successful completion of Cougar Chorus. Concert Choir is the advanced vocal ensemble at CJHS.

- December 13 Winter Concert Choir, Beginning Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band (Required)
- January 18/19 Northern California CMEA Honor Band and Select Choir (Audition required)
- February 23 CMEA Solo/Ensemble Festival (Optional)
- March 8 (Saturday) Choir Festival CSUC (Required)
- March 29 (Saturday) Band Festival CSUC (Required)
- April 24 Jazz Band at Farmer's Market
- May 13 Chico Jr. Spring Concert, CSUC Harlan Adams Theater, 7:00 PM Beginning Band, Jazz Band, Choir & Concert Band
- May 19 (during school hours) Concert Band & Choir tour elementary schools
- May 27 Piano Recital, Room 503, 6:30PM
- May 29 (durning school hours) Phantom of the Opera - ALL DAY trip to Sacramento
