| | Chico Junior Basketball is a parent-run program, with girls' and boys' teams. There is an "A'' team and a ''B'' team, allowing 54 kids are on a team in each grade level. Teams practice every day, either after school or at 6 a.m. before school. They also travel out of town to play in games and tournaments.
To raise enough money for team jerseys, sweatshirts, fees, referees , and other costs, the players have an annual shoot-a-thon. The girls and boys collect sponsors at a set amount per basket. For example, if a sponsor pledges 2 cents per basket and the player shoots 200 baskets, the team would make $20 from that sponsor.
