This free desktop utility will allow you to see near real time weather data on your desktop direct from the Forest Ranch School LIVE Weather Station. You can also select from KPAY Newstalk1290 in Chico. The data is displayed at 1 second increments over a  five minute interval, then automatically updates again. You can leave it online as long as you like and only requires that you have your internet connection established first. A very handy tool for monitoring weather at a glance- it's like having your own weather station!

Instructions for downloading and installing the Active Weather Viewer:

  1. Important! There are TWO (2) files that you need to download, the program, and the weather site directory files. ...shown at right.

  2. Download both of them now by clicking on them and saving them to a temporary folder on your hard drive.

  3. Run the Active Weather Setup program FIRST from the temporary folder on your hard drive. We suggest using the default installation directory on your C: drive.

  4. Then run the Weather Site Directory self extracting file to write the directory files into the SAME drive and directory that you installed Active Weather into. If using the default simply use C:\ in the self extractor as the drive...i.e. click OK to everything.

  5. Connect your PC to the Internet via dialup or LAN like you normally do.

  6. Run the Active Weather Viewer from the START Menu on your PC, it will come up with a blank display at first.

  7. Use the pulldown menu to select the Forest Ranch Weather Site, then watch it work!

  8. To change speed of playback, use the "Playback Speed" Pulldown Menu -choose up to 5x speed

  9. To switch to Metric, click on the "Options" Pulldown Menu

NOTE: Should you accidentally lose the settings for the Forest Ranch Live Weather Data, see the instructions at right on how to restore them.

Install both files, Active Weather Setup first,
then the Weather Site Directory Self Extracting file

Connect to the Internet

Run the Active Weather Viewer program

Select the Forest Ranch Weather Site from the pulldown menu

-OR- Alternately, program the location into the Active Weather Program yourself using the "Edit" pulldown Menu.
