Principal's Message
Quality of Instruction and Leadership
| | The staff and faculty of Forest Ranch Elementary School join me in welcoming you to our school website. Our philosophy at Forest Ranch has always been to provide our students with a quality, challenging educational experience in a nurturing environment. The test scores of recent years have demonstrated the fulfillment of this goal.
This year, it is our desire to provide our students with many opportunities for learning and enjoyment. We hope that each and every one of our students will grow academically, socially and emotionally as a result of their experiences at Forest Ranch Elementary School. During the time our students are with us, we challenge each student to strive for excellence in their studies in addition to making a positive contribution to our mountain community.
Consideration, respect and safety are the foundations upon which the rules which govern student conduct are based upon at our school. Each and every student is valued, respected and cared for. No one should ever get in the way of our student¹s safety and success.
The teachers and staff members join me in offering all of our students whatever assistance they need to have a wonderfully successful experience at our school this year.
We want you to be "simply the best!"

| | Leadership: Educational research clearly proves the need for strong leadership in an effective school. In addition to the principal, leadership can be provided in many ways. The School Site Council, comprised of five parents, three teachers, one classified employee and the principal, provides leadership through the development of a school plan and implementation budget. The plan includes components for Language, Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Health/Personal Health and Safety, Visual and Performing Arts, Physical Education, Coordinated Auxiliary Services/ Special Needs. Parent Education and Involvement, and Staff Development. Each component is overseen by the principal and staff, who monitor progress and carry out activities designed to enable the attainment of the component objectives. The principal and teachers meet regularly to review all phases of the school's program and operation. Individual teachers are designated as subject area resource persons who represent the school in curriculum meetings and workshops and help lead curriculum development in their particular areas. The teachers act as peer coaches for each other by sharing expertise, supporting each other and seeking ways to meet students' special needs.
Quality of Instruction: Forest Ranch underwent a Program Review (PQR) two years ago, in the emphasis area of Mathematics. Our PQR findings were very positive. Based on these findings, a 5-year improvement plan for our Math program was adopted. The School Site Council gave us a "highly effective" rating due to the full attainment of more than 90% of the objectives in the 1997-98 School Plan. | |
