| | CLASS RULES 1. BE ON TIME: You are TARDY if you are not in your assigned seat when the bell rings. 2. BE PREPARED: Have a sharpened pencil, paper, and homework out before the bell rings. 3. FOLLOW DIRECTIONS: Listen carefully, be courteous, and follow instructions. 4. BE RESPECTFUL: Each student has a right to learn, and the teacher has a right to teach. We are all expected to s how respect for each other's rights. 5. NO FOOD, CANDY OR GUM: No food, candy or gum is allowed unless it is given to the student by the teacher.

| | TARDIES If you are not sitting in your assigned seat when the bell rings, you will be considered tardy and musst sign in late. I track all tardies. After three tardies a student will receive detention. Tardies result in a lower participation grade worth up to 5%.

| | GRADING POLICY I am fair and consistent in my assessment of a students performance. All letter grades will be based on the following performance in class and points earned. | |

| | WEEKLY ASSIGNMENT SHEETS At the beginning of each week, each student will receive a weekly assignment sheet. This sheet lists the agenda for the entire week, including assignments and tests. If a student is going to be absent they will know ahead of time what they are going to miss in class. Eighth grade assignment sheets are yellow, and seventh grade assignment sheets are green. | |

| | ASSIGNMENT STANDARDS All students are required to have the following information (full name, date, period) in the upper leftt corner of their paper to receive full credit. The student's math helper number must be written in the upper right hand corner of the paper. The assignment must also include the page numbers. Handouts also require name, date and period. | |

| | HOMEWORK POLICY Homework will be assigned almost every night Monday through Thursday. All homework is due the following day unless I state otherwise. All math homework, in class work, and quizzes will only be accepted in pencil. Homework corrections are to be done in red pen. Doing homework is critical to a student's success in math. Homework is 45% of a student's grade. Parents should encourage their child to do their homework regularyl...every night. Time permitting, students will be allowed to start their homework in class. Students are required to show work on their papers in the form of calculations, pcitures, organized tables, and/or written explanations. All students are responsible to ensure their work is completed so that it is neat, legible, and turned in on time. | |

| | ABSENT HOMEWORK Students are responsible for assignments missed due to an absence. Students will receive a weekly assignment sheet at the beginning of each week so they know ahead of time what we are working on in class. Absent homework will be accepted up to four (4) school days after the student returns. Beyond 4 days, it is considered "late." If an absent assignment is not turned in, it will be scored a zero and no points will be earned. | |

| | LATE HOMEWORK Homework is due at the beginning of class. Work being completed when class starts is considered late. Students will only be allowed to turn in 5 late assignments a quarter. Late homework can receive up to 60% credit. Students will be given five late slips a quarter. These slips require a parent signature on them. No slip....no signature...no credit! | |

| | CLASS NECESSITIES Students are required to have the following materials in class every day. 1) A 3 ring binder for Math only - All students are required to keep a math binder. This 3 ring binder must have rings at least 1 inch in diameter.
- It should have 5 section dividers in the listed order.
- This math binder will help keep your child organized and will contain all of your child's work for the semester.
- Students will have periodic binder checks throughout the school year.
- Binder checks are 5% of a student's grade and must be organized to receive credit.
2) 5 section dividers for your binder - Warm Ups: Each day a warm up shall be completed. Students should save them in this sections until the end of each quarter when they will be collected and graded.
- Homework: This sections should include all corrected homework and weekly assignment sheets.
- Study Guides: This sections should include study guides (blue) also known as class notes.
- Handouts: This sections should include the classroom management plan and any colored handout.
- Tests: This sections should include all quizzes and tests.
3) Paper 4) Pencil (red pen is provided by the teacher) 5) A scientific calculator - Calculators will not be supplied by the teacher.
- On most homework assignments students are to solve problems WITHOUT a calculator.
- However when topics such as Exponents, Square Root, Area of a Circle, and Circumference of a Circle are covered students may use a calcuator.
- If a calculator is used on a homework assignments students are required to show their work.
