Choose a character from Greek mythology. You may select a god, goddess, or other creature. Research the character and the story (myth) that tells about him/her/it. Write a multi-paragraph paper that addresses the following:
1. Summarize the myth (story about your character) in 1-2 paragraphs.
2. Explain what, if any, aspect of nature is explained by the myth.
3. Explain the moral lesson the myth teaches or illustrates, if any.
4. Discuss any differences you find in different versions of the myth. What aspects are different?
Your paper should be VERY neatly written, or typed. If you type your paper, you must double space and use a 12 or 14 size font. Please be sure to proofread carefully – errors will affect your grade! We will spend some time in class using the laptops to do research, but you should plan to find a book or other article as well.
You will need to cite the sources you use to find information. As you do your research, be sure to write down all the information you will need. We will practice using MLA format to list the sources, so you need to have the following information:
For a book, have the title, author(s), publisher, city and date of publication.
For a website, you need the author’s name, if one is listed, the title of the article, the name of the site or online publication, the date you used the web site, and the URL (web address).
