Yosemite Field Guide Guidelines April 21, 2008 Name____________________ Due Date___May 23rd________ Required Parts of the Guide: Cover: Must be illustrated and include your name. Title Page: It must be illustrated and include your name, first and last, as well as the due date of the guide. Table of Contents: It includes page numbers and titles for each section in the guide. Photocopied map of the Yosemite area (provided by your teacher) Fold out section showing the Formation of the Yosemite Valley(done in class) Geology vocabulary section: (11 pages) Includes one page for each word with the geological definition, a drawing, and space for a personal reflection from the trip to Yosemite. Words to be included: arches, batholith, dikes, erosion, glacial polish, hanging valley, lava plateau, moraine, plutons, sills, weathering. Landform and environment section: (13 pages) Includes information on the valley floor landforms (9) (Merced River, El Capitan, Half Dome, Royal Arches, Glacier Point, Sentinel Rock, Cathedral Rock, U-shaped Valley, V-shaped Valley) and waterfalls (3) (Yosemite Falls, Vernal Falls and Bridal Veil Falls). Also includes a page on John Muir/the John Muir Trail (1). Each of these needs one page with an illustration, information, and space for drawing and/or reflecting at Yosemite. Title the top of, or tab, the first page of each section. Reflection section: You should have 2 blank pages for reflections on the trip. Grading: Neatness Creativity Effort Details and accuracy of the information listed on each page Quality of the content and art listed on each page Spelling and mechanics Completeness of the guide… are all of the required parts included?
