The Chico Unified School District founded Parkview Elementary in 1953 in response to the needs of the community's population growth.
- What educational programs does Parkview Elementary offer?
Parkview Elementary offers its students a variety of educational programs. The Pals Reading Program consists of retired volunteers who donate time to work with students each year. The Two-Way Language Immersion Program provides students with the opportunity to learn and communicate in English and Spanish. - What after school programs or activities are available?
Parkview Elementary offers after school programs that focus on the improvement of math and reading skills. Students are placed into groups based on their need for improvement in a specific area. Classroom teachers, instructional aides, retired teachers and parent aids with teaching credentials ensure that students get the individual help and attention needed.
The Chico Area Recreation Department (CARD) and Parkview Elementary have established an after school program for Parkview students. The CARD program is comprised of approximately 40 students and three adult leaders. There is a monthly fee for the program that helps support activities such as arts and crafts, games and outdoor events. Students also have the opportunity to attend monthly field trips to the roller skating rink, bowling alley and climbing wall. - What is the approximate student-to-teacher ratio?
The student-to-teacher ratio for grades K through 3 is 20-to-1. The student-to-teacher ratio for grades 4 through 6 is 30-to-1.

Anyone interested in donating time or assistance in a classroom can volunteer during school hours and/or after school. This may include providing food and/or supplies for classroom parties, assisting students in the classroom, correcting papers, helping with class projects or assisting the teachers in any way possible. You also can get involved by going on field trips or doing clerical work at home. Interested parents should contact the student's teacher and/or the Parent-Teacher Organization at 891-3114. | |
