Neighborhood Program

The Sierra View Neighborhood Program is characterized by adherence to the Chico Unified School District philosophy.  This philosophy emphasizes the teaching of the basic skills in language arts and mathematics.  At the same time the program strives to develop in all children a feeling and respect for others and a strong, positive self-image.  Teachers in the Neighborhood Program utilize a wide variety of techniques designed to develop each child's individual skills while striving to maintain a high interest in learning.  Both small group and individualized instruction are utilized for maximum pupil growth and development.  A wide variety of methods and media are employed depending upon the needs of individual children.       The program serves students who live within the Sierra View boundaries.  It is open to all pupils in the district, depending upon enrollment.  In accordance with district philosophy, each student is provided with the opportunity to develop the necessary language, computational, and social skills to be an effective member of society.
