| | As part of normal operations of the school district, all campuses have comprehensive, up-to-date safety plans in place to address a variety of emergency conditions such as fire, earthquake, sheltering, and evacuation. The plans are reinforced through drills with students and at regular meetings with our employees.
In any emergency situation, specific response strategies will depend on the nature and scope of the incident and prevailing conditions. In most incidents, public safety and emergency management personnel will play a critical role in identifying the specific nature, cause, and extent of the emergency, as well as providing guidance to administrators on the response steps that must be carried out.
Your children are surrounded daily by professionals who have dedicated their lives to helping their students; in the event of an emergency, you can count on these caring individuals to keep your children secure. | | REDI for School Emergencies is predicated on a basic assumption of emergency Management: To be effective, it must be easy to use. The framework is based on a nationally recognized system for managing critical incidents known as the Incident Command System (ICS). Through ICS, REDI for School Emergencies enables a school district to rapidly establish a response organization that can match (and get ahead of) the incident's acceleration curve. It then incorporates existing contingency plans to bring about a safe resolution. All the while, it links district and school officials with public safety responders arriving on the scene.
REDI for School Emergencies puts in place a response framework based on a proven system utilized by public safety agencies nationwide. The background and training show districts and individual schools how to apply that system to any crisis.
Emergency planning is an ongoing process. Meetings, discussions, training, communications, simulations are ongoing in the effort to make our campuses safe. No two critical incidents will be exactly alike. If a district has a sound plan and is well prepared, district and school site personnel will have the tools and skills required to design a creative solution for each unique event.
Incident Management Teams are in place at each school site and at the district level. An example of the REDI for School Emergencies is available in Adobe Acrobat format. | |
