NGA Kids The National Gallery in Washington created a variety of activities for children learning about art. Take a tour of the sculpture garden, or explore the colors, shapes, and lines found in Kandinksy's Improvisation 31 (Sea Battle). Requires Flash plugin and Quicktime.
Picture Australia Consider this the ongoing year featuring the best Australia has to offer. The latest offering we've found is Picture Australia. This searchable database allows users to look for specific historical and contemporary images. Instead, students might want to take a trail, where images re grouped by category. Olympic images are featured, as well as Antarctic expeditions, wildflowers and birds of Australia, and objects d'art. It's always nice when trails are easy to navigate.
Ceramics Web CermaicsWeb is produced by the School of Art Design at San Diego State University in California. An experimental site that is still growing and expanding, CermaicsWeb houses databases of glaze recipes and material information, and a wide variety of educational materials related to ceramics.
ArtsConnectEd The Minneapolis Institute of Art and the Walker Art Center created this wonderful resource to allow different learning styles to be influenced by art. The art gallery allows visitors to create their own online gallery of their favorite pieces, while the Playground lets users create a variety of different types of artwork. Older students will love the interactive art activity in "Another Look" in the Look and Listen part of the Playground. Explore online or download the Teacher's guide.
Masks.org Photographs of masks from many cultures can be found here. Featured are masks from affiliated museums around the world, as well as masks found at mask festivals in Europe and Asia and masks made by contemporary artists. Students can view winners of last year's competition or plan for this year's Youth Exposition.

What is a Print? Learn the basics of wood block, etching, lithography, and screen printing with mini-tutorials (requires Flash Plugin). The New York Museum of Modern Art combines these tutorials with examples of each type of printing and a glossary of print terminology.
Food and Agricultures of the World Agropolis-Museum is a Science Center with three online exhibits: The History of Food and Agriculture, Farmers and Farming all over the World, and the Banquet de l'Humanité. Visitors will find a global perspective of agriculture and the foods consumed by people in different nations. This site is available in both English and French.
