EXTENDED YEAR SPECIAL EDUCATION SUMMER SCHOOL

The Chico Unified School District is in the planning stages for the scheduling of the CUSD Extended Year Program for students attending Loma Vista School or Special Day Class Programs.  This session runs from June 15 – July 10, 2015.

The following positions are expected to be open for this session:

  • School Nurse
  • Preschool – Severely Handicapped
  • K-6 – Severely Handicapped
  • 7-12 – Severely Handicapped
  • Post High School – Severely Handicapped
  • K-6 – Emotionally Disturbed
  • 7-8 – Emotionally Disturbed
  • 9-12- Emotionally Disturbed
  • Speech/Language Specialist
  • Special Day Class
  • Elementary Mild/Moderate
  • Secondary Mild/Moderate
  • Adapted PE Specialist
  • PHI Teacher
  • Psychologist

Interested should submit an application, cover letter and resume to the Certificated Human Resources Office by the deadline date, March 20, 2015.  (Current CUTA members need only submit the application).

Subject to adequate class enrollment, sufficient staff will be selected on a contingency basis. 

Compensation for the summer session will be based on the hourly summer school rate as outlined in the CUSD/CUTA Collective Bargaining Agreement.  (Unit members will progress one step annually based on CUSD summer school experience).

GENERAL INFORMATION:

Salary Placement

Placement on the salary schedule will be determined by the employee's verified training and prior experience. A maximum of fourteen years' prior teaching experience will be recognized by the District.

SUBSTITUTE TEACHING

Substitute Application packets can be picked-up from the District Office Monday-Thursday between 1:30pm - 4:00pm only. When you pick up the application packet, you can schedule a Livescan appointment with us. Once we have received your clearance from the Department of Justice, you will be notified and at that time you can return with your completed application to the District Office.

The following documents must be submitted with the application:
  • A completed CUSD Certificated Substitute Teaching Application
  • Original valid California Teaching Credential or Emergency Permit
  • A copy basic skills test (CBEST, CSET, etc.)
  • A copy of a negative TB Test (less than 1 year old)
  • CUSD Safety Training Clearance (Click here to access)

If you need to apply for a 30-Day Substitute Permit, you will need to bring in the following:
  • Your original diploma OR official transcripts showing your BA degree 
  • Original CBEST or CSET (including writing) results
