Career Technical Education (CTE) provides students of all ages with the academic and technical skills, knowledge and training necessary to succeed in future careers and to become lifelong learners.
To provide industry-linked programs and services that enable all individuals to reach their career goals in order to achieve economic self-sufficiency, compete in the global marketplace and contribute to California's and Chico's economic prosperity.
Vision
To engage every student in high quality, rigorous, and relevant educational pathways and programs, developed in partnership with business and industry, promoting creativity, innovation, leadership, community service, and lifelong learning, and allowing students to turn their "passions into paychecks" - their dreams into careers.
Programs
Both Chico High and Pleasant Valley High Schools continue to add college and career pathways in high demand industry sectors such as:
Many CTE courses are University of California, A-G approved and some courses are articulated or dual enrolled with the local community colleges and offer students the opportunity to earn post-secondary credits while attending high school. Additionally, many programs offer the chance to earn industry recognized certifications as well as work-based learning opportunities such as job shadowing or paid/unpaid internships. These combined elements give students a head start to finding their future careers.
