By taking an AP course and scoring successfully on the related AP Exam, students can earn college credit. AP courses also prepare students for the skills needed throughout college.
 
 
Honors (Grades 6-10)

Honors (Grades 6-10)

Honors placement is an optional opportunity for students to acquire advanced subject-matter curriculum. 
 
 
Honors English placement will be determined through multiple measures including, but not limited to, SBAC scores, Chico Unified School District Common Assessments, and STAR Reading scores.  Honors courses include English, Math, and History.
 
Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) Grades 3-5

Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) Grades 3-5

GATE classes seek to enrich and extend the education of gifted students in a variety of ways, including adjusting the pace and depth of instruction and discussion, and additional thematic investigations.   Additional instruction and investigations within grade-level curricula are emphasized rather than acceleration through grades.
