Chico Unified School District (CUSD) maintains quality instructional and technological programs, exceptional learning facilities and staff intent on serving the educational needs of our diverse student population. CUSD utilizes social media and online platforms to engage and inform our community about school and district events. CUSD welcomes the community’s contributions to its social media accounts. However, CUSD must also ensure that we maintain an informative flow of information that does not violate the privacy and rights of our community – maintain information that is appropriate for internal and external audiences.

CUSD’s social media is not a public forum. CUSD welcomes a person’s right to express their opinion and encourages posters to keep comments relevant to the topic in question. Posting of any content on any social media platform administered by CUSD, by any user, constitutes acceptance of the terms of use described here in these Social Media Terms and Conditions. Also, all comments posted to any CUSD Facebook site are bound by Facebook’s Community Standards, located at:
CUSD reserves the right to report any violation of Facebook’s Community Standards to Facebook with the intent of Facebook taking appropriate and reasonable responsive action.
Please note that the social media and online platforms are not monitored 24/7. If you have an immediate issue or concern, please call the CUSD District Office at (530) 891-3000 or utilize our 24/7 anonymous reporting hotline located on the school and district website.
A comment posted by a user on any CUSD social media site is the opinion of the user only. The publication of a comment does not imply endorsement of, or agreement by, CUSD, nor do such comments necessarily reflect the opinions or policies of CUSD.
Our official social media sites constitute a limited forum, the contents of which are at the discretion of CUSD. The terms and conditions below apply to any official social media for the Chico Unified School District. CUSD reserves the right to change the Terms of Use policy at any time without prior notification.

By engaging with our district-sponsored social media sites, you agree to the following terms of use and understand that any comment/post that violates the terms below may be deleted by the District:
- Comments should relate to the topics introduced by the specific post made by the site administrator.
- Comments are not allowed if they include profanity, threatening words, bullying, vulgar or inappropriate language or content (including masked words (***), acronyms and abbreviations).
- Comments are not allowed if they include "hate speech" or offensive language targeting any defined person or group, including comments that promote, foster or perpetuate discrimination on the basis of race, creed, color, age, religion, gender, or national origin.
- Comments that encourage illegal activity.Comments are not allowed if they include spam, advertisements or links to other sites. This includes advertisements for special offers or discounts for teachers, students or administrators.
- Comments are not allowed that support, or oppose, any political campaigns or ballot measures.
- Comments are not allowed if they are abusive, harass, stalk, or violate the legal rights of others.
- Comments that are likely to incite students and create a clear and present danger to the operation of the schools.
- Comments that interfere with the educational mission of CUSD or our schools.
- Comments that cause or are reasonably likely to cause substantial disruption to our schools’ and/or CUSD’s educational environment or operations.
- Comments that contain links to websites that include comments/topics that violate any of the above listed terms and conditions.
- Photographs may not be posted, except by the site administrator.
- Media personnel seeking requests or responses to questions are asked to refrain from submitting questions as comments and send questions to the CUSD Communication Department through normal channels.
If a comment violates the terms and conditions of use, the comment will be removed from the site immediately and a warning will be sent to the user. If there is another violation, the user will be blocked from the site. If the user wishes to contest being blocked from the site, the user may do so by contacting the school site administrator or the CUSD District Office at (530) 891-3000 and select “Option 4”.
Our goal for utilizing social media and online platforms is to foster communication and engage with our families and communities at large. We ask that users respect the value and opinions of others in our community. Issues, concerns and complaints should be directed to the school site administration or to the CUSD District Office (530) 891-3000 and select "Option 4."
