Quality Services Supporting and Maintaining a Safe Learning Environment
The mission of Maintenance and Operations is to provide quality services
supporting and maintaining a safe learning environment. We accomplish
this through a high performing work force that inspects, maintains and
repairs district buildings and grounds. We believe all students deserve
the best possible environment to maximize their learning opportunities.
Maintenance and Operations serves 21 school sites, the District Office and the Corporation Yard in a 322 square mile area. Our school district is largely urban, but also has characteristics of suburban and rural areas. The District contains 1,448,335.80 square feet of building space, which includes three charter schools. School buildings in operation range from buildings constructed in 1937 to those constructed in 2016.

Maintenance Job Duties
The
Maintenance Department is charged with providing routine and emergency
maintenance to district buildings. The maintenance crew consists of
fourteen full time specialists. Each of the Senior Maintenance Workers
is required to have a minimum of four years trade experience at the
journeyman level. While other employees are enjoying winter/spring
breaks and summer vacations, the maintenance crew is busy working to
complete complex projects during these times. These projects are in
addition to the daily work orders that the crew completes.
