Best Practices for Password Safety
- Do not share your passwords with others (including staff and other students).
- Consider changing your passwords regularly (IT experts recommend changing passwords every three months). Cybernews article, "How to Create a Strong Password."
- Avoid using your school-issued computer or devices for personal accounts or purchases, and do not store your passwords on your computer.
- Always lock your computer screen when you walk away from your desk.
- If someone is utilizing or sharing your device, always watch your screen (always be aware).
- Never write your passwords on a sheet of paper.
- Log out of programs when they are not being used.
