Schedule an appointment for Livescan by calling (530) 891-3000, x20142. The cost for the Livescan is $32, payable by cash or check only.
Pick up the substitute application packet from the Chico Unified School District reception desk or view the packet online.
Once Chico Unified receives your Livescan clearance from the Department of Justice you will be notified and at that time you may return to turn in your application packet. The following documents must be submitted with the application.
A valid California Teaching Credential OR Emergency 30-Day Permit
A completed CUSD Substitute Teaching Application Packet
Copy of basic skills test (CBEST, CSET, SAT scores, etc.)
Copy of a negative TB test (within the last 60 days)
Printout of CUSD/Keenan Safeschool Training (click here for link to training)
30-Day Substitute Permit
If you need to apply for a 30-Day Substitute Permit, please contact Heather Deaver at (530) 891-3000 ext. 20142. You will need to bring the following to apply:
Official Transcripts showing your Bachelor’s degree
Original CBEST/CSET/SAT results
Certificated Substitute Salary Schedule
(Effective August 20, 2019)
During the regular school year, grades TK-12 certificated substitutes will be paid as follows:
Working a full day* - $120
Working more than one-half day, but less than a full day (.8) - $96
Working up to one-half day (.6) - $72
Long-Term Substitutes (Commencing on the eleventh day of continuous substitute service for the same staff person.)
Working a full day* - $150
Working more than one-half day, but less than a full day (.8) - $120
Working up to one-half day (.6) - $90
* If the regular teacher's assignment includes an additional sixth class, the substitute shall earn an additional factor of 0.20.
